More than a decade ago, a Canadian group, Downhere, wrote a beautiful, inspired tune entitled “How Many Kings” (the link is below). We fell in love with its lyrically profound Christmas message.
The song asks if you can name a king that had abdicated his throne for a world of sinful people who would then reject and crucify him for offering to forgive their sins and give them eternal life.
The answer is none, because no other person throughout all of history did such a thing. None but the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
We celebrate Christmas at this time of year not because a baby boy still sleeps in a manger, but because he came to this world to bring us into relationship with God . . . if we’ll accept Him.
The King of Kings came to us from Heaven on a Divine rescue mission to be born in a manger. From the manger to the cross. From the cross to the resurrection. From the resurrection to the ascension. To His rightful place in Heaven and in our hearts.
Do you know the only King whose love compelled Him to leave His throne to save you?
Lovely as usual! Blessings this Christmas!
