Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. (Phil.4:8. NKJV)
God’s word is filled with encouragement, and the above verse is one of my favorites. It encourages us to see beyond ourselves, stop our negative thinking, and plug into thoughts that are excellent and worthy of praise.
In other words, all that is God! Fill your mind with Him.To further drive home the point, here’s a helpful acronym:
THINK
T - Is it THOUGHTFUL
H - Is it HELPFUL or HONEST
I - Is it INSPIRATIONAL or INTELLIGENT
N - Is it NECESSARY or NICE
K - Is it KIND
In an article written for 1ChristianVoice (February 16, 2019), I added an s, making the word THINKS
S - SALT
In Colossians 4:6, Paul exhorts that our conversations should always be full of grace and seasoned with salt.
When someone says something nice to you, doesn’t it put a spring in your step and lighten your heart? That’s the message behind THINKS! We can let God change our direction, the course of our day, and our mindset (and someone else’s!), if we use the THINKS method. Imagine the impact we can have within our own family! And then our friends, our neighbors, our church, infinity! :)
What if, today, we examine our words, the way we THINKS, and change our world—one encouraging word at a time.
I'm THINKS-ing this is an excellent way to live:) Thanks!
